Brief description
Sinamay makes wonderful hats – it's such a light and airy hat making fabric. With just one crown and one brim block you have the tools on which you can shape, or ‘block’, your own beautiful hats. This ebook explains how to create a sinamay hat with a down-turning brim. As with all our ebooks, it's full of detailed photographs and clear instructions which are easy to follow. We've included a comprehensive list of the equipment and materials you’ll need, and take you step by step through the entire process. Even if you’ve never done anything like this before, you won’t find it difficult, and you'll end up with a hat that looks extremely professional.

With the knowledge gained from this book, you'll be able to create a huge variety of hats which will all look different as you vary the size of your brims, the height of your crowns, the colours you use, etc.

This lovely, classic pink sinamay hat is being modelled by its delighted maker, Helen Thorne. She has blocked this brim to its full width, but cut the crown quite shallow.

Julie McCready, on the other hand, has chosen to vary the fabric of her hat, and is using a different type of sinamay – another stunning result.

And of course, once you know how to create a sinamay brim, you might choose to use it on its own to create a smaller, fascinator hat, like Linda Gove Evans.
